After a third-party delivery provider is connected, turn on third-party delivery for a location, choose the provider, and set how the delivery fee is split between your store and the customer.
The delivery provider invoices you directly for the delivery. This split does not change that invoice. It sets the portion collected from the customer with the order, which is the portion you receive with that order. The rest is your store's share.
Connecting the provider account is covered in that provider's setup guide. DoorDash Drive and Uber Direct are linked below. This article is the location setting after that connection exists.
Set the split on the location
Orders → Catalog, or Online Ordering → Catalog. Open the location group, open the Locations tab, and expand the location. Save at the bottom when you are done.
1Step 1Turn on Delivery (Taxable). Choose Third-party Delivery.
- Third-party Delivery appears after a delivery partner is connected for that location.
- Self Delivery is a different choice. It uses delivery zones instead of this split.
2Step 2Under Selected Integration, choose the provider account for this location.
- If only one provider account is connected, that account is already selected.
- On an account with more than one location or billing entity, choose the account that belongs to this location. The wrong account bills that location's deliveries to another entity.
3Step 3Set Percentage of Delivery Fee charged to Merchant. Enter a number from 0 to 100. A value of 0 is kept.
- If the delivery fee is $10 and you enter 40%, your store's share is $4 and the customer pays $6.
4Step 4If the percentage is above 0, set Maximum Fee charged to Merchant. This caps your store's share. A value of 0 is kept.
- If the delivery fee is $15 and the cap is $5, your store's share is $5 and the customer pays $10, even when the percentage would have been higher. The screen's example uses a 50% percentage with that cap.
5Step 5Save the location.
What the split does not change
- The provider still invoices you for the delivery. How they bill, and what to do if a payment method is missing, is covered in that provider's setup guide.
- A missing or expired payment method on the provider account causes delivery orders to fail. The provider's setup guide covers how to resolve that.
- Minimum Order Total for Free Delivery is on the same screen. When the cart meets that amount, the customer is not charged a delivery fee on the order. The provider still invoices you. A value of 0 ignores that field. Minimum Order Total for Delivery works the same way: a value of 0 ignores it.
Third-party delivery is not available for age-restricted goods. The provider's setup guide covers that limit.
