Register a toll-free number with TapMango and see what to expect while it is approved.
Before you start
Toll Free Number Registration
Toll-free numbers must go through a carrier-level verification process before they can be used to send SMS messages through TapMango. This is an industry-wide requirement designed to reduce spam and protect your customers.
TapMango handles the registration process on your behalf. Provide the required business information when prompted during account setup, or when our team reaches out.
What You'll Need to Provide
Our team needs the following information to complete registration:
- Your government-issued business tax identification number. Businesses registered in the United States provide their EIN (Employer Identification Number). Businesses registered in Canada provide their CBN (Canadian Business Number).
- Your Legal Entity Name or DBA (Doing Business As) name, as registered with your government.
Our team may also confirm your contact name, phone number, email, business address, and website.
Selling Alcohol?
- Your website shows a legal-age popup.
- TapMango is set to collect the customer's full date of birth.
- Text messages are not sent to anyone under 21.
Restricted Content Categories (SHAFT)
Carrier networks enforce strict rules around certain content categories in SMS messaging. These are commonly referred to as SHAFT categories. Businesses in these categories may face restrictions on what they can include in text messages, or may not be eligible for toll-free number registration at all.
In addition to SHAFT, gambling is also a restricted category. This includes casinos, poker rooms, sports betting operators, lottery retailers, and any business that facilitates or promotes wagering or games of chance. It also includes casino apps, websites that offer gambling, sweepstakes, 50/50 raffles, and betting or sports picks.
Carriers also restrict high-risk financial services, third-party lead generation and marketing, debt collection or forgiveness, get-rich-quick schemes, illegal substances, prescription drugs, phishing, and academic fraud.
Messaging that promotes or references sex, hate, firearms, tobacco, drugs, or gambling is generally not permitted and will result in message filtering, delivery failures, or removal of your toll-free number. Alcohol businesses that meet the Selling Alcohol requirements can register a toll-free number.
What Happens Next?
Once our team has your information, we submit the registration on your behalf. Verification is handled by the carrier networks, and approval typically takes 2–5 business days. It can usually be quicker when the correct information was provided.
You will be notified once your toll-free number is approved and ready to use.
