Clover applies a TapMango reward or voucher only after you map the discount. On the Discounts tab, use the magnifying glass to search the synced Clover catalog and add the products, categories, or modifiers. Pasting a Clover ID still works, and it can be a better fit when the catalog has a high volume of items. A product rule is a third option for product discounts: it matches item names, and TapMango checks those names again when the customer redeems.
Add the discount
An Overall Discount applies to the whole sale. It does not need a product or category. The other types that target products, categories, or modifiers need a map. Search is the usual way to add that map.
Search the Clover catalog
After you choose the Clover integration and discount type, use the magnifying glass beside Applies To or Does Not Apply To.
Add writes the Clover ID for you.
Paste Clover IDs
Pasting an ID is optional. It can be a better fit when the catalog has a high volume of items and searching for each one is impractical. The ID field on the discount accepts the same Clover ID that Add would write.
Match items with a product rule
A product rule is for Product Discount (Amount) and Product Discount (Percentage) when many items should match by name. TapMango saves the rule, not a fixed list of IDs. When the customer redeems, TapMango matches the rule against current Clover item names, so a new item whose name matches is included without mapping it again. The matched list is reused for a few minutes, then checked again.
On the discount mapping screen, choose Add Mappings or Edit … Mapping(s), then Add/Edit Product Rule Mapping. The window title is Find Product By Product Rule.
The rule matches the item name. Letter case does not matter.
- A word matches any name that contains it. Coffee matches Iced Coffee and Coffee Cake.
- A question mark stands for the space between words. Iced?Latte matches Iced Latte. A normal space is removed, so Iced Latte looks for the letters IcedLatte together.
- An asterisk at the end of a word lets the rest of that word vary. Smooth followed by an asterisk matches Smoothie.
- A plus sign means every part must appear in the name. Iced+Coffee matches a name that contains both Iced and Coffee. Spaces around the plus sign are fine.
- OR means either side. It must be capital letters with a space on each side. Coffee OR Tea matches either name.
Discount types
Simple
This adds the discount to the Clover sale as a $0.00 line item. It does not adjust the sale total in Clover.
Use this when the offer is too complex to map directly. Applying it removes the points or voucher from the customer's account once the sale completes. The actual discount value has to be applied as a separate action in Clover.
Product Discount (Percentage)
A percentage discount limited to specific categories or products. TapMango applies it to qualifying items on the sale.
- You can apply it to a single qualifying item or to all qualifying items on the sale.
- You can include paid modifiers.
Product Discount (Amount)
A flat dollar discount limited to specific categories or products. The dollar amount is applied across qualifying items until its full value is used.
A customer adds a $5 item and a $7 item (total $12) and applies $8 off:
- The $5 item becomes $0 (using $5 of the $8).
- The $7 item becomes $4 (using the remaining $3).
- The customer pays $4. The $8 is not taken off each item.
- You can apply it to a single qualifying item or to all qualifying items on the sale.
- You can include paid modifiers.
Modifier Discount (Percentage)
A percentage discount on item modifiers, one modifier at a time. You can discount every modifier on the item or a single one.
A free bubble tea topping can be mapped to Pearls, Jelly, or Popping Boba. If the drink has several paid toppings, the discount can apply to all of them or to one, depending on the setting. You can also require the modifier to be on a specific product, when that modifier is used on more than one product.
- You can apply it to a single qualifying modifier or to all qualifying modifiers on the sale.
- You can include paid modifiers.
Modifier Discount (Amount)
A flat dollar discount on item modifiers, one modifier at a time. You can discount every modifier on the item or a single one, and you can require the modifier to be on a specific product.
- You can apply it to a single qualifying modifier or to all qualifying modifiers on the sale.
- You can include paid modifiers.
Overall Discount (Percentage)
A percentage discount on the entire sale. It is not limited to a category or product. You can set a minimum purchase amount, after tax.
Overall Discount (Amount)
A flat dollar discount on the entire sale. It is not limited to a category or product. You can set a minimum purchase amount, after tax. The discount cannot reduce the sale below zero.
Two For One
Requires a product or category. The second item of the same type is discounted to $0. Two for one on Coffee applies 100% off the second coffee.
Fixed Price
Sets a fixed price on the mapped item. A product or category is required.
Buy One Get One
A discount when two qualifying items are on the sale. TapMango discounts the second item. When the map is a category, the discount applies to the lower-priced qualifying item.
- The discounted item is free, or a percentage off (such as 50% off). A fixed dollar amount, such as $10 off, does not apply.
- This applies to pairs. A bundle such as buy 2, get 1 does not.
- You can include paid modifiers.
Buy X Get Y
Buy a set number of items to discount a different set. For example: buy 4 cookies, get 2 coffees free.
- The discounted items are free, or a percentage off (such as 50% off). A fixed dollar amount, such as $10 off, does not apply.
- The purchased items and the discounted items can be different products or categories, and the quantities can be different.
- You can include paid modifiers.
